Family calendar 2021 (2020)
2021: Kicking off with force and freedom
Finally, the long-awaited 2021 is here with hopes and expectations that we can gradually return to a “normal” life after quite an unprecedented year for all of us, and especially for children. The year 2020 was full of uncertainties and fears of losing loved ones, being unable to go to school, losing a job or being isolated. We had to face a range of serious societal, political and ethical challenges which forced us to stand guard around our human rights frameworks and recognise the importance of the work our Organisation has achieved over the past 70 years. At the same time, it also reminded us not to take things for granted and triggered our creativity to find solutions and adjust in the best way possible to exceptional circumstances. While the pandemic touched practically every area of our lives and every layer of society, it has particularly affected, and will continue to affect, children and children’s rights in multifaceted ways, both in the short and long term. The Council of Europe, together with all our committed partners, will continue to serve as the watchdog of human rights for children and will seize every opportunity to act.
This family calendar (bilingual English/French), is illustrated this year with photos by the internationally published artist Elena Shumilova, who specialises in children and family imagery. Her magical sense of colour and light captured in her photos brings beauty, magic and hope, which we all need more than ever to continue to pursue our work and efforts to protect and empower children.
The calendar has plenty of space for all those appointments and birthdays. See the whole family's activities at a glance!
