Ultrapassando o binário tradicional do 'convencional' e 'não-convencional', os autores colocam a questão: 'Como é que os jovens se envolvem com as democracias em transformação?', procurando compreender as formas como os jovens estão a definir a sua própria participação.
Este volume inclui sete capítulos, nomeadamente o mapeamento do envolvimento dos jovens em movimentos de justiça ambiental e greves climáticas, dissidência e bondade radical, explorações da compreensão dos conceitos de democracia liberal, voz dos jovens e cidadania europeia, bem como a importância e o papel dos valores e seu contexto. Para além dos capítulos, inclui quatro ensaios pessoais, escritos pelos próprios jovens, que nos dão uma visão de como os jovens se envolvem na participação política para moldar as suas escolas, comunidades e a Europa, mas também os sistemas mais amplos em que assenta a nossa política atual.
