This study is an attempt to investigate, theoretically as well as practically, certain important concepts in foreign language learning: dialogue, communication, intercultural awareness, language awareness, and the roles of teacher and learner. The articles present and discuss approaches to literature and other authentic texts in the classroom based on theoretical explorations of relationship between reader and text and reading and writing process as dynamic dialogues with the foreign culture. The main focus of all the articles in this publication is interaction: between cultures, between learners, between reader and texts, and between teacher and learners.
This study is also an attempt to widen the scope of the ongoing discussion about laguage and culture awareness by including aspect in linguistic, literary, philosophical, and didactical theories from the authors' own culture as well as from other traditions which have influences their approaches to foreign language teaching and learning.
