The Council of Europe Landscape Convention celebrates its 25th anniversary!

Opened for signature in Florence on 20 October 2000 and ratified to date by 40 member states, the Council of Europe Landscape Convention offers an innovative vision of landscapes, rooted in human perception, which recognises all landscapes as essential elements of quality of life and cultural heritage. It thus contributes to strengthening the link between human rights and the environment with a view to their mutual protection and enhancement. The Convention promotes public awareness, inclusive participation and a multi-stakeholder approach, thereby fostering good democratic governance for sustainable landscape management.
