Der Begriff Unabhängigkeit steht je nach Kontext für unterschiedliche Dinge. Tatsächlich verwenden die Filmwirtschaft und der audiovisuelle Sektor unterschiedliche Definitionen von Unabhängigkeit. Auch die Gesetzgebung nutzt den Begriff der Unabhängigkeit mit Blick auf das jeweilige Ziel. So spricht etwa die EU-Richtlinie über audiovisuelle Mediendienste von der Unabhängigkeit von Fernsehveranstaltern. Zumindest theoretisch sind also Produktionen eines großen Hollywood-Studios im Sinne dieser Richtlinie unabhängig. Interessant, nicht wahr?
