Le programme de formation de médiateurs roms lancé en 2011 est un projet unique, avec des retombées tant au niveau de tous les Etats européens qu'au niveau des 47 Etats membres du Conseil de l'Europe.

Cet ouvrage a pour objectif de contextualiser, d'évaluer et de valoriser les actions. Il est conçu comme un instrument de pilotage pour les animateurs du programme, comme un manuel permettant aux acteurs - formateurs, médiateurs, employeurs... - de situer leur démarche dans un ensemble, comme un outil d'aide à la décision pour les responsables politiques, comme un moyen de connaissance pour un plus large public.

Le programme d'activités concernant les Roms est un modelé d'action positive. Les retombées sont un apport dans le domaine de la coopération européenne, dans le domaine de la lutte contre les discriminations et la marginalisation, et dans la recherche des conditions d'amélioration de situations difficiles. ROMED est ainsi une source d'inspiration pour le développement de politiques interculturelles à même de gérer les sociétés actuelles, marquées par la diversité et le pluralisme.
