Le volume complémentaire du CECR élargit le champ de l’éducation langagière. Il reflète les développements académiques et sociétaux survenus depuis la publication du Cadre européen commun de référence pour les langues (CECR) et met à jour la version de 2001. Cette publication doit beaucoup aux contributions de l’ensemble des professionnels impliqués dans l’enseignement des langues, à travers l’Europe et au-delà.

Ce volume contient :
► une explicitation des aspects essentiels du CECR pour l’enseignement et l’apprentissage ;
► un ensemble complet et actualisé des descripteurs du CECR, qui remplace celui de 2001 par :
– des descripteurs respectant l’approche inclusive et la neutralité de genre ;
– des détails supplémentaires relatifs à l’écoute et à la lecture ;
– un nouveau niveau, le niveau pré-A1, ainsi qu’une description enrichie des niveaux A1 et C ;
– une échelle de remplacement pour la compétence phonologique ;
– de nouvelles échelles pour la médiation, l’interaction en ligne et la compétence plurilingue/pluriculturelle ;
– de nouvelles échelles pour la compétence en langue des signes ;
► un bref rapport sur les processus de développement, de validation et de consultation, qui ont duré quatre ans.

Le volume complémentaire du CECR représente une nouvelle étape dans un processus d’engagement dans l’éducation aux langues, qui est mené par le Conseil de l’Europe depuis 1964 et qui vise à :
► promouvoir et soutenir l’apprentissage et l’enseignement des langues vivantes ;
► renforcer le dialogue interculturel, et donc la compréhension mutuelle, la cohésion sociale et la démocratie ;
► protéger la diversité linguistique et culturelle en Europe ; et
► promouvoir le droit à une éducation de qualité pour tous.
