Les pays européens doivent changer d’urgence leurs politiques migratoires car elles mettent en danger les réfugiés et les migrants qui traversent la Méditerranée

Ce rapport dresse le bilan de la mise en œuvre, par les États membres, de la recommandation sur le sauvetage des migrants en mer publiée par la Commissaire en 2019. Il présente aussi un ensemble de mesures concrètes que les pays européens devraient prendre d’urgence pour adopter une approche respectueuse des droits de l’homme face aux traversées de la Méditerranée. Le rapport rend compte des développements survenus entre juillet 2019 et décembre 2020 dans cinq grands domaines : des opérations de recherche et de sauvetage efficaces ; le débarquement sûr et rapide des personnes secourues ; la coopération avec les organisations non gouvernementales ; la coopération avec des pays tiers ; et des voies sûres et légales. Il s’intéresse à ces aspects principalement en ce qui concerne la route de la Méditerranée centrale. Cependant, nombre des mesures requises décrites dans le document s’appliquent aussi à toutes les autres routes migratoires principales de la Méditerranée et aux traversées de l’Atlantique, entre l’Afrique de l’Ouest et l’Espagne.
