Le projet « Politiques et pratiques de l'enseignement de la diversité socioculturelle » a été lance en 2006 par le Comite directeur de l'éducation (CDED). Son objectif principal était de favoriser la reconnaissance de la diversité au niveau de la formation initiale des enseignants et la gestion de la diversité dans les établissements scolaires.Cette publication est destinée à tous les personnels des établissements de formation des maîtres. Elle ouvre le débat sur la façon dont la formation - notamment la formation continue - des enseignants peut préparer ces derniers à devenir des professionnels réfléchis, ouverts à la diversité dans leur établissement et dans leur classe. Elle souligne l'urgente nécessité de mettre en place des cours et des formations pratiques propres à développer les compétences et à stimuler la réflexion afin de créer des environnements inclusifs, ou les enfants et les adolescents peuvent apprendre à vivre ensemble en respectant les différences.L'ouvrage expose les grands principes qui guident le travail sur la diversité. Il présente des concepts fondamentaux concernant la diversité socioculturelle dans l'éducation, tout en analysant certaines difficultés rencontrées dans la formation initiale et continue des enseignants. Il préconise des mesures et définit des lignes directrices à l'intention des établissements de formation initiale des enseignants.
