The Committee of Independent Experts, first of the four bodies responsible for supervising the implementation of the European Social Charter, examines the national reports of the Contracting Parties and adopts on this basis conclusions in which it indicates if it considers that during the period of report, each of the Contracting Parties has conformed to provisions included in the report. Furthermore, it makes commentaries on interpretation of the Charter's provisions.
The first part of Conclusions VI contains conclusions of the Committee referring to reports of Austria, Cyprus, Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden and United Kingdom on application of Articles of the European Social Charter for the period 1976-77. The second part of the Conclusions comprises an assessment of the position of each Contracting Party having reported during cycle VI, and includes provisions of the Charter with whose obligations the State concerned complies, the provisions with whose obligations it does not comply, and the provisions in respect of which, in the Committee's view, further information is needed.
A table showing the provisions of the Charter as accepted by the Contracting States is appended.
