Debates of this seminar focused on the role of the pharmacist as co-guarantor of health security, highlighting the concern that the sale of medicines through the Internet could pose a risk for public health. Another key point was the added value of the intervention of the pharmacist in the mastering of the safety of therapies (new gene and cell therapies, self-medication without control, iatrogenic risks, counterfeiting of medicines) as well as health costs. New technological advances which can be used by pharmacist were also discussed, notably the network systems allowing the linking of health professionals, smart cards and computer systems for data coverage.
